about me

Hey there!

I’m Neil Dey, the founder of Student Upstart. I started this blog after I noticed a severe lack of resources and information aimed towards student entrepreneurs.

Most books/blogs/courses are targeted towards your run-of-the-mill adult entrepreneur and apart from a few blog posts scattered around, there was a serious lack of relevant and helpful information that is applicable to student entrepreneurs.

That’s when I got the idea to condense all my experience and learnings over the past several years as an entrepreneur throughout high school, and share it with others so they can have an easier time than I did!

My entrepreneurial journey over the years

If you’re wondering what my own startup journey has been like over the years, and what makes me qualified to give you advice, here is a brief outline of my entrepreneurial journey.

Cubetcha

When I was 13, I founded a company with one of my friends to teach people how to solve the Rubik's Cube and various other puzzles. In one month of running this venture, our revenue was $250 USD

My Smaller Projects

Some of the things I've tried my hand at in the past are: a candle making business, various YouTube channels, freelance graphic design services, a video editing company and more!

SWiFi Creations

A startup I founded as a part of the LaunchX Clubs program. We created a low cost home automation system which placed #1 at the Asia-Pacific Demo Day. As a result, we were invited to the Global Demo Day, for which we flew out to Boston to pitch our startup at MIT. We were also featured in a national newspaper for our work!
